Toddler sports marathon
Today was Owen and Maddie's first day of the toddler sports marathon! We started off with our usual gymnastics class, but then decided to mix it up a bit and introduce them to ice skating! Owen was not very impressed with the whole skating business, but we're hoping that he'll do better at the next class.

The OC Fair, part 2
Friday night, we went with my parents to the OC Fair again. This time, we put Owen on some rides, and he had a blast!

Gymastics time!
It's gymnastics time again! We missed the last session, but started up again just in time for the summer. Owen and Maddie always have such a great time here. Now that he's 2 years old, he's in an older class, with many more interesting things to do. The kids are learning animal walks and the balance beam, though Owen wasn't really into the latter activity.
OC Fair
Last week, we went with The Shafers to the Orange County Fair. We got there a little too early, as the fair didn't open until noon (my bad!), so we walked over to TeWinkle Park to let the kids play. After a while, we walked back to the fair, and had a great time! Owen and Maddie loved checking out the animals in the petting zoo, and chasing each other around a picnic table.

Family vacation
We had a wonderful time on our family vacation! Owen got to meet some of his cousins, and see some real cows on a real dairy farm! He's been talking about them ever since.

2 years old
As of 4:09pm, Owen is officially two years old!
At 2 years, Owen:
* Still hasn't made much improvement with his eating, though he will nibble the heads of broccoli, and has eaten chicken and beans from El Pollo Loco
* Sleeps from 8pm to anywhere between 7 and 8:30am
* Takes one nap during the day, usually for about 3 or 4 hours
* Runs everywhere he goes
* Loves the swings and slides at the playground
* Loves rolling balls down the hallway
* Loves throwing things
* Loves puzzles
* Loves books
* Loves to splash in the bathtub and make a huge mess
* Loves Wonder Pets, Blue's Clues, and Wow!Wow!Wubbzy
* Hates being on his changing table
* Hates being told no
* Hates most food still
* Uses a spoon pretty well
* Has peed on the potty quite a few times
* Knows most letters of the alphabet, but has trouble with C, P, Q, and U
* Will randomly recite groups of letters of the alphabet, in sequence, usually B through M
* Knows the numbers 0, 2, 3, and 8
* Doesn't say one, but will say two and three
* Knows the following shapes - circle, star, triangle, oval, rectangle
* Will intentionally put his puzzle pieces in the wrong place and say "nooooooo" before putting in the correct place
* Can complete a 12-piece jigsaw puzzle by himself
* Knows all of his colors
* Learned the following signs this month - imagination, guess, lost, pig, chicken, rock, lizard
* Learned the following words this month - kick, dark, pants, open, white, guess, snack, hug, rabbit, gecko, puppy, lost, bull, rock, nipple (thanks Steve, lol), grapes, shark, seal, panda, bat, okay, Diego, triangle, crab, bike, zero, three, oval, rectangle, bowl, bellybutton
* Wears mostly 2T clothing, but can wear some 3T shirts, and 24 month shorts
* Wears a size 6 1/2 shoe

Family pictures
This past weekend, my brother Cody's friend Adam came down to take some pictures of Owen and our family. He's a budding photographer, and needed some bulk for his portfolio; who am I to turn down an offer like that?! Needless to say, he got some amazing shots, and posted a few teasers for me today.

Some fun news
As a family, we have a couple of really fun things coming up in the next few weeks.
1. Owen's birthday. That's right, my little man will be 2 years old on June 25th! It's amazing to think that he's been here for 2 years already, yet it feels like he's been with us for longer than that. I can barely remember his tiny newborn stage; it seemed like forever ago compared to this running, talking, funny little creature.
2. Family vacation. Steve has some time at the beginning of July where he has no hockey games, and no real obligation to be at work. For the first time in years, we are taking a vacation that doesn't involve hockey, soccer, or a work conference. On July 3rd, we are heading out to Minnesota and Wisconsin! This will be Owen's first plane ride, very exciting! We will be visiting friends and family while we are there, and returning on the 9th. I'm very much looking forward to meeting some of Steve's family, and seeing an old friend while we are there.
