Baby shower!
On Friday, my great friend Jill threw a baby shower for me via the moms' group. We had a nice turnout, and Brandie made these amazing cookie dough pops, yum! Thank you Jill and Brandie!

Owen's big boy room
Since Owen will be moving into his new room in the next few months (hopefully, more like 6 months, so that I can keep him in his crib a little while longer lol!), Steve and I decided that it's time to start working on it. Our guest room was being used as storage, so there were lots of toys, boxes, and other miscellany in there. I was afraid it would be a slow, painful process, but we've actually made quite a bit of headway so far.
The first order of business was getting Owen his own big boy bed, as my old daybed has hearts on it, and isn't exactly the epitome of boyishness. Though he will be getting more formal furniture when he's older, once we decide when/if we are going to have a third child, we went with this fun Ikea bed in the meantime. You can set it up as it is in the picture, and once the child is older, you can flip it over and use it as a loft bed, how fun! Also, when it's flipped, you can put a mattress on the bottom, so it becomes a bunk bed.
Once Owen's bed was put together, we worked on clearing all of the junk from the room. I wish I had taken a before picture of just how cluttered the room is, but needless to say, it's looking much better now. Nearly everything has been organized into Rubbermaid storage bins, so now it's just a matter of finding a new home for them. Steve dragged my old Ikea dresser out of the closet, so now there's tons of room in there for Owen's stuff. Once the containers are out of the room, it will finally look like a bedroom again, how exciting!

Owen's parking garage

Owen videos
Here are a couple of cute videos I've taken of Owen recently. For those of you who are receiving this via email, click on the link at the bottom of the email that says "Life with Owen" to see them.
The first one is of Owen and his friend Maddie at Old Navy. They have this projector that displays an image on the floor, and the objects move based on the kids' shadows. Here they are, playing hockey:
This next one is of Owen doing an activity that Daddy set up. He puts these bead necklaces through the small slot in the bottom of a diaper box. Not sure what, if any, skills he's learning by doing this, but he sure has fun doing it. He literally spent an hour doing it this morning:

A little late for Halloween
Sorry I've been so MIA for the past month! I've gotten a couple of reminders from family, so here I am!
The week before and the week of Halloween, I took Owen to our local pumpkin patch. He had so much fun on the rides and checking out the petting zoo; he threw a fit both times that we had to leave. The second time we went, we met up with our good friends Jill and Maddie; Owen just loves her!

For Halloween, Owen dressed up as Yoda, complete with lightsaber! We didn't really have any plans, but I wanted to take him out trick-or-treating for the first time. Our friends Jill and Maddie invited us to go out with them, and we had a great time!
This lightsaber actually came in really handy. People could see us crossing the street from a mile away:

Goooooooooooooooooool!
It's been a little while, so I thought I'd give a quick update on us. I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant, and feeling pretty good. But enough about me.
Owen started his first soccer class last week! Steve went all out and got him some shin guards, cleats, and a ball. The first class didn't go so well, full of tantrums and tears, but toward the end of the class, he started getting into it. We're hoping this week will be better.

Baby!
Today, I had a doctor's appointment to hear the heartbeat. The little peanut was squirming around a lot in there, so the doctor couldn't find it. He decided to do an ultrasound instead, even better! I'm 9w6d, but the baby is measuring 10w1d. I'm hoping that explains the 8 pounds I've gained this past month, oops!
